This full-day Big Island tour starts with a 7 AM pickup from major Kona coast hotels. The journey heads north towards the Hāmākua Coast, featuring scenic stops with views of the Kona, Kaʻu, and Hāmākua coastlines. You will explore the rainforest, including visits to Akaka Falls State Park and the Waipi’o overlook, with a possible quick waterfall dip. After a brief stop in Hilo, enjoy lunch before heading to Volcanoes National Park. In the park, you will explore major sites like Kilauea Iki Crater, steam bluffs, and the Thurston lava tube, with the route adjusting for current lava viewing. The tour continues south to the beautiful Punalu’u Black Sand Beach to look for turtles, followed by a late afternoon snack at a famous family bakery (try the sweetbread!). The day concludes with a sunset drive back north, dropping off guests in Kailua-Kona and Waikōloa.
