Our First destination is the picturesque settlement of Oia. Driving to Oia is by itself a unique experience as the road taking us there is surrounded by cliffs and seascapes. Oia is located on the northern tip of the island, high on the ridge of a cliff, and has the best views of the island. In the village you can shop or walk around to discover the typical architecture of Santorini with its characteristic white houses dug into the volcanic soil.

This is the highest spot of the island (567 meters), located between Pyrgos and Kamari. The mountain took its name from the monastery of Profitis Ilias (Prophet Elijah) that is built right on its peak. This vantage point offers you a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire island, from the patchwork agricultural plains to the hilltop village of Oia.

We visit a local winery for some wine tasting. Santorini is an island with a long wine-making tradition. The volcanic soil and the special climate of Santorini give the local wine a unique taste, which has made it famous worldwide. Vinsanto, Nychteri and Mezzo are just some of the local varieties, which can be found not only in many restaurants on the island, but also in various cellars around the world. Most wineries in Santorini are located in the central and southern part of the island, in the villages of Mesa and Exo Gonia, Megalochori and Messaria.
