It’s worth exploring the Old Town, the castle grounds, and the modernist buildings while discussing pre-war independent Lithuania and the lives of its people.

We will stroll through Kaunas Old Town, visiting the castle, cozy streets, the remnants of several churches, and the Old Presidential Palace.     The funicular, constructed on the right bank of the Nemunas River, was officially opened on December 6, 1935. The Aleksotas funicular features a track that has remained unchanged since its opening, with a central separation allowing carriages to pass each other. As you ascend, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the river below. Special automatic brakes have been installed in the carriages to ensure safety in case of cable damage. The length of the funicular is 142 meters (466 ft), with a gradient of 29.5 degrees.
