Our driver-tour guide will pick you up from Entebbe International Airport or a hotel of your stay down town Kampala in the morning and brief you about the entire safari. You will then embark on an approximately 5hrs drive journey to Kibale Forest National Park, Africa’s best safari destination for chimpanzee trekking with a stopover in Fort Portal town for an en-route lunch break in the afternoon. The drive will Proceed with a visit to crater lakes around Kibale Forest National Park and Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves, a Must-visit cultural site famous for its rich and very unique history in the western part of Uganda. ‘Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru’ relatively translates into “Breasts of Nyina Mwiru” and while you are at this cultural site be assured of appreciating cultural tales associated with these caves that have been passed down through centuries. Proceed to Kibale Forest National Park for dinner and overnight stay awaiting for chimpanzee trekking on the following day.
The day will commence with an early morning luscious breakfast at the lodge after which you will head out with your picnic-packed lunch and water to the park office for a briefing about the rules and regulations in regard to trekking these endangered human-like species. After briefing you will enter the forest led by park rangers for security and guidance to track Chimpanzees for about 2-5 hours and while tracking, encountering other primates like colobus monkeys, olive baboons, and red-tailed monkeys is most likely. When Chimpanzees are spotted, in their home forest you will be allowed 1 hour to observe them and get to learn more about their human-like behaviors take pictures as well, and return to the lodge for lunch break. In the afternoon, head out for a nature walk in Bigodi swamp, where you will enjoy walking through a wetland sighting a diverse array of bird species and antelopes, and head back to the lodge later in the evening for a well-earned dinner and overnight resting.
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park will commence soon after your morning breakfast and the drive will take approximately 4 hours arriving early in the afternoon. On your way, you will enjoy spectacular views of Rwenzori mountains and Lake George among others. Upon arrival, you will check in into your booked lodge, have Lunch, and later in the afternoon head out for a community walk coupled with a visit to Lake Katwe where you will witness the extraction of salt by locals using elementary methods. Return to the Lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay awaiting an adventurous game drive the following day.
The day will commence with an early morning luscious breakfast at the lodge and thereafter you head out for the game drive at Kasenyi sector where you will encounter several wildlife species both big and small. The park is famous for its abundant wildlife and expected encounters include African Elephant, Buffaloes, Lions, Uganda Cobs, Leopards, Warthogs, Hyenas, and antelopes among others. After the game drive in the afternoon, you will get back to the lodge for a lunch break and thereafter go for the boat cruise at Kazinga channel for an additional wildlife and bird watching adventure cruising through the intersection of lake Edward and Lake George. While on a boat cruise expect magnificent encounters such as hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species upon which you will return to the lodge to dine and have a well-earned rest.
Upon morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and board your safari car for a return journey to Kampala for your flight or your stay at the Hotel. On your way to Kampala, you will make a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch at Igongo Cultural Center and then proceed with a drive to Entebbe International Airport or down town Kampala. Dropping off to the airport or at a hotel will mark the end of your 5 Days Chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale forest and Queen Elizabeth wildlife safari and we shall have to wish you a safe flight back home and perhaps greetings to your loved ones.
