The drive to El Chaltén takes you across the vast Patagonian steppe toward the Andes, with impressive views of mountains, lakes, and the surrounding wilderness. When conditions and timing allow, your driver can make scenic stops along the route so you can take photos and enjoy the landscape.
Once you arrive in El Chaltén, known as the “World Capital of Hiking,” the day is yours. You will have approximately 8 hours of free time to explore the area independently and choose how you want to experience it.
Go hiking on one of the many trails surrounding the town, visit scenic viewpoints, enjoy lunch in El Chaltén, or simply take your time discovering the area without the restrictions of a fixed group itinerary.
At the agreed meeting time, your driver will be waiting to take you comfortably back to El Calafate.

Enjoy a short and scenic hike to Mirador de las Águilas, one of El Chaltén’s most beautiful viewpoints. The trail offers panoramic views of Lago Viedma, the Patagonian steppe, and the surrounding peaks of Los Glaciares National Park.
