Lake Titicaca is located between Peru and Bolivia. It is the highest navigable lake in the world, you will sail around its waters.
We will pick you up from your hotel in the historic center of Puno between 06:45 and 07:00. Before boarding the motor boat to Uros Island, we will make a brief stop at the dock where you can purchase snacks and bottled water. Once on the boat. Our guide will introduce himself and the boat captain before giving you an overview of the Lake Titicaca itinerary. Our first stop will be at the floating islands of Uros. During the trip, you will see cattail plants growing in the lake. When the boat docks, the island chief will demonstrate how they build the islands with reeds and share a few words in Aymara. The natives are known for their crafts, which you can purchase. You will then have the option to sail on a reed boat (15 Soles) to the main island of Uros and stamp your passport as a souvenir. From here, we will begin our boat trip to the Taquile Islands. You can walk to the upper deck of the boat and take photos of the floating islands.
When you arrive on the island of Ammantani, you will be greeted by local families who will open the doors of their homes with a warm welcome. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared with fresh and traditional ingredients from the region. Later, explore the island with a walk to the sacred temples of Pachatata and Pachamama, located at the highest points, where panoramic views of Lake Titicaca and an unforgettable sunset will leave you amazed. Back, you will enjoy a homemade dinner in a welcoming atmosphere before immersing yourself in the local culture with a lively rock or party, full of typical music and dances that will make this experience unique. The night will be spent in a simple family home, with basic but comfortable services, allowing you to live an authentic connection with the Quechua community and its way of life.
In the morning, you will enjoy a breakfast prepared by your local hosts, closing your experience with the warmth and hospitality that characterizes the community of Amantaní. After saying goodbye to the families, you will begin your return, taking unforgettable memories of this unique experience, where nature, Quechua culture and the authentic connection with the inhabitants of the island will be forever engraved in your memory.
On Lake Titicaca is the island of Taquile, where local villagers have created a thriving craft industry woven by the community’s men. Taquile is home to a Quechua population of 2,000, who are mainly farmers, fishermen and renowned weavers. Unlike the traditional view of weaving as a women’s heritage, in Taquile it is men who do much of the delicate work of the thread. In addition, we will be invited to watch and dance with local villagers their typical dances. Then we will continue walking for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, around 2:30 PM, you will board the boat back to Puno. At approximately 4:30 PM, the boat will dock at Puno Pier, where we will meet you and take you back to your hotel in the historic center of the city.
