What to expect
On the Ice Exploration tour, you'll spend about 2 hours (4-6 km) hiking on Breiðamerkurjökull, a glacier outlet of Vatnajökull. Your guide will explain how glaciers form and change, affecting their surroundings. You'll see various natural attractions, including mountains, ashy ice, and possibly blue ice. The tour activities vary based on daily conditions and group preferences, with options to explore larger glacier areas or enter moulins and crevasses. Rated medium in difficulty, the tour requires participants to walk 4-6 km on diverse terrain and in varying weather conditions. No prior glacier experience is needed.
We provide crampons, helmets, and safety harnesses. Guides will ensure you're prepared before starting. Dress according to the weather; the glacier is usually as cold as the Glacier Lagoon meeting point. Wear warm, breathable, waterproof clothing and sturdy hiking boots that cover the ankles and offer good ankle support.

- Important: We offer rain pants, rain jackets, and hiking boots for rental at the meeting point. If you are not properly dressed, you may be required to rent gear from us or, in extreme cases, be denied participation for safety reasons. Our cancellation policy will apply in such cases.
- The harness sizes is can be adjusted to maximum 126cm.
