Galatas is a coastal town in the prefecture of Attica, It is located directly opposite Poros, from which it is separated by a narrow strait. There are regular ferry routes to Poros from Galata. The route from Athens to Galata is around 160 km (expected duration approx. 2 hours and 30′) and from there ferries depart every half hour (every exactly and every half hour) all year round. The journey Galatas – Poros is 5′ and the cost is 4€ for person and car together. From Galata you can also cross to Poros with one of the boats (cost 1€/person and 5' trip duration, only for persons) which leave continuously.

Pinewoods cover the island’s hills, and go all the way to the sandy beaches. The Archaeological Museum of Poros includes exhibits from the area of Troizinia (Poros, Galatas, Troizina, Methana, etc.), and Ermioni that have been retrieved from settlements, sanctuaries, and cemeteries dating from a period spanning from the Early Helladic age until the Byzantine times.
Poros is the ideal destination for watersports and activities such as swimming; visit the beaches at Mikro Neorio and Megalo Neorio, as well as the one at Limanaki tis Agapis (meaning ‘The Cove of Love’). Go diving in the crystal clear waters and sail through the nearby islands and off the coast of the Peloponnese. You can also explore the inland; go biking and hiking through Poros’ pinewoods.
