The 5th century BC sanctuary of the nymph Aphaia stands on a pine-tree covered hill at the north side of the island overlooking to Athens. The ancient Greek doric temple, among the most well-preserved monuments of Greece, was erected 50 yeas before the Parthenon! The picturesque cafe there serves the best pistachio ice cream!

The ruins of a castle town built in medieval times. 33 byzantine chapels with frescoes, a wanderful walk around the old footpath and 360view points. Paliachora was the medieval capital of the island being controled by the Greeks, the Katalans, the Venetians and the Ottomans successively.

One of the biggest pilgrimages around Greece and the Balkans, Saint's Nectarios Orthodox Monastery welcomes every visitor to its charming environment. We visit the chapels built in 1908, the place where the nuns stay, the miraculous saint's tomb, his chamber and the newer imposing church.
