    Hjálparfoss is a peaceful waterfall where the Fossá and Þjórsá rivers meet, tumbling together from a lava field formed by eruptions of the nearby Hekla volcano. It lies in one of Iceland’s most geologically dynamic regions. Just downstream, its waters help power Iceland’s second-largest hydroelectric dam.
