Airport pick-up and boarding (Your flight must arrive in the morning.) You will be picked up by our team and transferred by bus to our private port in Nauta, where boarding will take place. If you are staying at a hotel in Iquitos, please inform us in advance — we can also arrange pick-up from your hotel.
Upon arrival at the airport, we’ll welcome you and begin with a city tour of Iquitos, exploring its main attractions. Then, we’ll travel to Nauta, a historic river port, where we’ll board La Perla and settle into your comfortable cabin. As we sail down the Marañón River, our naturalist guides will introduce the itinerary and Amazonian wildlife. After a welcome lunch featuring regional cuisine, we’ll embark on a night excursion in Nauta Caño to observe nocturnal creatures like caimans, bats, and tarantulas. We’ll then return to the boat for dinner and a restful night.
In the morning, we will organize a fun picnic breakfast at the Yanayacu River in Pucate, one of the best protected and preserved areas of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve. This area is often visited by pink dolphins. On the way back to La Perla, we will have lunch in the dining room of the boat and, after a moment of rest, the guides will give a talk on Amazonian Philosophy. Later, we will go to meet the shaman of the community of San Regis, a wise man of the native community who will share with us his knowledge about the rituals of his ancestors, medicinal plants and the Amazonian cosmovision. Our guides will be the interpreters in case you wish to ask questions or make comments to the shaman. After this authentic experience of reflection and spiritual exploration, we will continue with a tree planting ceremony, as a contribution to the care of the environment. Back on the boat, you can relax with live music while we wait for dinner.
In the morning have a special charm for getting in touch with the jungle and are a unique opportunity for species sightings. That's why, this morning, you have also scheduled a boat excursion before breakfast. This time the destination is the Quebrada de Iquitos, a privileged area for the sighting of numerous endemic species. Back on board, a buffet breakfast will be served. After breakfast, we will start a walk through the jungle until we reach the area of the hanging bridges, a set of structures stretched high up in the trees that will allow you to walk among the leafy canopy and admire the richness of the jungle from a unique elevated perspective. Before noon, we will return to the boat for lunch on board and then have some time to rest before the next departure. Later, we will be ready for the boat expedition to the Shiriyacu stream. There we will find a suitable spot for piranha fishing using local equipment and techniques. This area is very popular for spotting pink dolphins.
Early in the morning we will depart by boat to the Quebrada de Gasparito, a very popular area for bird and primate watching. After breakfast, the bartender will be waiting for us for a demonstration of Peruvian cocktail, Pisco Sour, the emblematic drink of Peru, and then proceed to disembark. On the way to the airport, we will visit the River Mammal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (Amazon Forever Organisation) where biologists and volunteers care for the manatees, an endangered species that the authorities have rescued, and learn how the manatees are treated and prepared for reinsertion into their natural habitat. We will also see other animals that have also been rescued. Jungle Experiences actively collaborates with this organisation and study centre. We invite you to collaborate and contribute to this noble cause. We will finish with a transfer to the airport
