Snorkeling in a fissure caused by two tectonic plates drifting apart is something you can't do everyday! Silfra is the name of a big 'crack' stretching parallel to the North American and a micro-plate called Hreppar that broken off from the Eurasian plate.
Silfra has world-renowned clear and drinkable water with over 100 metre visibility daily. This is unlike any tour you can do in Iceland and is something you can't do anywhere else in the world.
We are the only company to offer wetsuit and drysuit. This means members of your group can book different options and still be together in the water.
We include photos and usually take around 40-100 photos as standard depending on the size of the tour and you will be able to download them after at least a few days.
We always have small groups, 6 people per guide. This allows for a better and more personal feel. If you have a group of 7 or more you can be together preparing your equipment but in the water some of you will be separate.

The location of Silfra, where the snorkeling takes place, is within Thingvellir National park. Passengers, while driving through, get a chance to view some of the beautiful nature the national park has to offer.
Heading out from your Reykjavík accommodation to Silfra takes about 45 minutes. After greeting your certified guide upon arrival, you'll gear up, listen to a safety overview, and head into the glacially flooded fissure known as Silfra. You'll spend around 30–40 minutes in the water before exiting and walking back around 5 minutes walk. You'll then get a chance of warming up with a well earned hot chocolate. We’ll take photos during the snorkeling. Typically 40–100 images, depending on group size and skill level. The photos will be available for download a few days later free of charge. For the drysuit option, Please bring your own one thermal base-layer. We recommend bringing thick (preferably wool) socks to help keep your feet warm while snorkeling. We’re the only company offering both wetsuit and drysuit options. This means members of your group can book in wetsuits or drysuits and you will still be in the same group in the water.
Silfra fissure is often considered one of the top diving or snorkeling locations worldwide. This is due to the unique in-water visibility due the pristine glacier water that has been filtering through lava fields for many decades. Average in-water visibility is +100m/+300ft. Many say that snorkeling in Silfra feels like flying due to the clear glacial water. Feel thirsty on the way? No worries, just take a sip as the water in Silfra might even be more pure and better than the top shelf bottled water you would buy back home. Thingvellir National Park, where Silfra is situated, is where two tectonic plates meet with around 6-7km/4miles gab between the two. Snorkeling in Silfra therefore means you are snorkeling between two tectonic plates.
