An authentic eco-tourism social impact scientific activity for explorers. During the exclusive private full day cruise offshore and in the lagoon, our oceanographer will provide you with detailed information about the unique marine biodiversity of Mauritius. Covering offshore species (including whales, dolphins, seabirds) and lagoon ecosystem species (including corals, seagrass and fish) and the impacts of climate change, the scientific information collected will be used for marine conservation activities while 10% of the proceeds from the cruise will be transferred to an NGO for additional community based sensitisation activities.

Meeting point

Drive towards Black River Police station. Parking spaces are available in the area. Walk towards the sea to Black River Fish Landing Station jetty where we will meet you. Feel free to call once you have reached the parking lot.

What to expect

Greeted and met by an experienced Oceanographer, you will embark on board RV Oceanyka from Black River Bay before heading offshore. During the full day private exclusive trip, our oceanographer will provide you with detailed information about the marine environment of the Indian Ocean and scientific explanations will be provided about the unique marine biodiversity of Mauritius. The activities will start with the observation and recording offshore species of cetaceans (whales, dolphins) and seabirds. The second leg of the cruise will focus on the description of the lagoon ecosystem (corals, seagrass and fish) and the impacts of climate change. The scientific information collected during the cruise will be used for marine conservation activities while 10% of the proceeds from the cruise will be transferred to an NGO for additional community based sensitisation activities.
