This unique purpose-driven tourism program in La Guajira will allow you to explore one of Colombia's most fascinating and remote destinations. Travelers who join our routes not only enjoy spectacular landscapes, but also have the opportunity to directly contribute to the welfare of animals in vulnerable communities and work with the ancient Wayuu culture.
With The Wellbeing Route, you will help with veterinary care days, providing assistance to animals in need. Meanwhile, with the Smile and Learn program, you will participate in workshops with Wayuu children, promoting respect and empathy for all forms of life.
In addition, by booking this experience, you will be supporting a non-profit foundation. All proceeds go directly to saving and improving the lives of thousands of animals. Not only will you enjoy an incredible adventure, but you will also be leaving a positive impact on local communities!
All of our guests stay at Casa Anawa, the heart of our foundation in La Guajira. This will be your home during your volunteering, where you will enjoy comfortable rooms with air conditioning, fiber optic WiFi, and all the necessary amenities. In case you are staying at another accommodation in Riohacha, simply send us the address in advance, and we will coordinate a time to pick you up and take you to Casa Anawa.
We will begin by arriving at Casa Anawa, our operations center and guest house in Riohacha, where you will feel at home. There you will be able to meet our rescued furry friends, interact with them and be part of the place where this beautiful project was born.
In the evening we will take the foundation's rescuers on a walk along the beach. We will enjoy the welcoming atmosphere, the soft sand and some cocktails, while we look back on what has been a truly special day.

"Smile and Learn" is a cultural program of the foundation. Anawa Project seeks to leave a legacy of respect and empathy for all forms of life. Through awareness-raising workshops in vulnerable communities, artistic and recreational activities are carried out with children. These creative activities are designed to empower them, encouraging ways to improve their situation, promote entrepreneurship and take advantage of the natural environment to improve their living conditions, promoting empathy and respect. You can be an active part of these workshops, working side by side with the Wayuu communities.
At the end of the day, we will close the trip in one of the most beautiful places in Mayapo. We will enjoy one of the most impressive sunsets you have ever seen, while we share with many rescued dogs that live in this wonderful place.
