Start your visit at Amsterdam’s Museumplein and enter the Van Gogh Museum using your entry ticket, skipping the ticket purchasing line. After the standard security check, collect the audio guide at the information desk. Begin with Van Gogh’s early, darker works as the audio guide introduces his life as a struggling artist and his focus on rural life and working-class subjects, including powerful paintings such as The Potato Eaters. You then follow the evolution of his style toward the bright, expressive masterpieces he created in France, including Sunflowers, Almond Blossom and The Bedroom, along with self-portraits and letters that reveal his inner thoughts and emotions. The audio guide takes you room by room, providing context for each stage of his artistic journey, his close relationship with his brother Theo, and the personal struggles behind the artworks. Most visitors spend around 1–2 hours exploring the collection, but you are free to remain inside the museum until closing time.

- This is an audio guide tour. You explore independently with the official museum audio guide. There is no live guide inside the museum.
- All visitors to the museum are required to show a valid entrance ticket (we will provide separate tickets).
- Visitors with a Child/youth ticket are required to show proof of age at the museum entrance.
- You can print out your ticket (we provide it separately), but you don’t have to: you can also present your ticket on a mobile device to check at the museum entrance.
- You're welcome to take photos of the paintings as long as you do not use a flash, lamps, a tripod, or a selfie stick.
- Once you confirm your attendance, you will receive your tickets at least 1 day in advance of the tour's start.
- You skip the line to buy tickets. You must still pass the mandatory security check, which can have a line at busy times.
- The museum does not allow changes or refunds for dated tickets. For this reason, all sales for this experience are final. Please check your date and time carefully before booking.
- The audio guide is collected inside the museum at the information desk
- The audio guide is generally recommended from age 13. Younger children can still enter the museum but may not receive an audio device.
- How long can I stay inside? As long as you like until closing time. Most visitors spend around 1.5–2 hours.
