1Pyramids of Giza
The pyramids are about 15 kms (9 miles) south west of central Cairo, more or less as the crow flies. Traffic in Cairo is diabolical so it can take anything between 30 and 90 minutes to get there by car. Although strictly speaking Giza is a city in itself, don't expect to go through any countryside. Cairo and Giza are inextricably mixed in a teeming urban jungle of 20 million people.
