  Banff's largest — and oldest. Beneath this water lies a submerged town. You choose your own time here: board the famous boat tour (tickets from May 12, not included), walk the shoreline, explore Stewart Canyon, or simply sit and let the Rockies come to you.   Cave and Basin National Historic Site

  Cave and Basin. This is the spot. The actual spot. Where two railway workers stumbled into a warm cave in 1883 and accidentally started a nation's greatest decision — to protect this land forever. You'll walk into a cave that breathes warm air even in the middle of a Canadian winter. You'll stand beside a spring that has never stopped flowing. You'll see the oldest swimming hole in Canada — and the tiny blind snails that live nowhere else on Earth. It's quiet in there. The kind of quiet that makes you feel like you walked into something ancient that was waiting for you. Tickets are not included — you purchase those at the entrance.
