This experience is a rare blend of cultural exploration and hands-on creation. Unlike standard city tours, we don’t just show you history; we help you recreate it. You will visit three UNESCO-listed monuments, including a hidden 5th-century mosaic masterpiece, and then immediately apply that inspiration in our private glass studio.
Located in the heart of the historic Ano Poli, our workshop offers an authentic local vibe with traditional Greek treats right on the historic Koule Kafe Square. You won't just leave with photos, but with a 100% handmade glass mosaic, safely packed to take home—a personal piece of Thessaloniki’s Byzantine soul created by you.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
The meeting point is on the square in front of the main entrance to the church Saint Demetrius. Your guide will be waiting for you there, holding a sign with our logo. Beacuse we are going to get to church man should wear trousers over the knee and woman skirt/dress/trousers over the knee.
What to expect
Our journey begins at the Church of St. Demetrios, where we explore mosaics and the underground Crypt. We then hike up to the Ano Poli (Upper Town) to the Monastery of Latomou. Here, you will see the world’s unique 5th-century "Beardless Christ" mosaic and enjoy the panoramic view of the city. Our walk concludes at the Byzantine Bath, the only preserved in Greece.
2.Studio Experience & Welcome
Relax at our sun-drenched studio in historic Koule Kafe Square. Once the heart of Byzantine life, it’s now a creative oasis. Enjoy traditional Greek coffee, sweets, and local snacks before diving into your art.
3.Make Your Own Byzantine Art
Now, it’s your turn to create! Using our intuitive glass technique, you will make a unique mosaic artwork. We provide prepared Byzantine motifs (crosses, florals, or architectural designs) to make the process simple for beginners. You’ll choose your favorite vibrant glass colors and assemble your piece step-by-step with our guidance. No prior experience is needed.
4.A Souvenir to Cherish
Your finished artwork is safely packed to fit perfectly in your luggage—a lasting, handmade memory of your artistic journey in Thessaloniki.
