We pick you up from the hotel or airport to start your day with a tour of the city of Iquitos. We visited the Plaza de Armas, the Malecón de Tarapacá and historic buildings such as the Casa de Fierro. Then we explore the famous Bethlehem Market, where you will see exotic meats, tropical fruits, natural medicine and traditional aphrodisiac drinks. From the port of Bellavista we begin a journey along the Nanay River to the meeting with the Itaya and Amazon rivers, where pink and gray dolphins usually appear. We visited the Chullachaki Ecomuseum to learn about medicinal plants and local culture. Afterwards, we continue to the Fundo Don Pedrito to meet paiches, piranhas and alligators. We continue to the community of San Juan de Huashalado and proceed along the Yanayacu River until we reach the Amazon Yanayacu Lodge. In the afternoon, canoe ride at sunset. Dinner and rest in the middle of the jungle.
At 5:00 AM we canoe down the Yanayacu River to witness the Amazonian sunrise and observe birds in their natural environment. After breakfast (7:30 AM), we take an ethnobotanical walk through the flooded forest, where we will see giant trees like ceibas and kapoks, and learn about their medicinal uses. We'll also look for monkeys, sloths and other wild animals. After lunch (14:00), we rested in the lodge before going out to catch piranhas on the Yanayacu River (15:30). At 17:30, we explored the jungle on a night hike to spot insects, tarantulas and hidden creatures. Upon returning, we will dine at the lodge or, weather permitting, live a unique experience camping in the jungle (May–October), sharing local legends next to a roast under the stars.
At 7:00 AM, after breakfast, we visit Monkey Island, a rescue center where you can interact with rescued primates. Then we return to the lodge and head to an indigenous community Yagua, where you will know its traditions, dances and crafts. As a special closure of the trip, you can take a final dip in the Amazon River. After lunch (2 :00 PM), we leave back for Iquitos. Arrival in the city is scheduled for 5:00 PM, with transfer included to your hotel or the airport. An unforgettable end to this adventure in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest.
