Hidden among the rose-colored cliffs of southern Jordan, Petra is an ancient Nabatean city carved directly into the rock more than 2,000 years ago. Once a thriving center of trade and culture, today it stands as one of the world’s most awe-inspiring archaeological sites — and a proud UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors enter through the narrow, winding Siq — a dramatic sandstone gorge — which suddenly opens up to reveal the breathtaking Treasury (Al-Khazneh), Petra’s most iconic monument. From there, travelers can explore a vast network of tombs, temples, and forgotten streets that whisper stories of a once-great civilization. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an adventurer, or a curious traveler, Petra is a place that leaves a lasting impression — both humbling and unforgettable.
Before departing Petra, travelers will stop briefly at the Visitor Center to rest, use the facilities, or browse local souvenir shops near the main gate. This is also the designated meeting point with the driver before returning to Amman.
After the visit, you’ll head back to Amman or directly to Queen Alia International Airport, depending on your travel plans. The drive takes around 3 hours, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
