St. John’s Co-Cathedral – A Baroque Masterpiece Step inside St. John’s Co-Cathedral, one of the most breathtaking Baroque churches in Europe. Built by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century, this magnificent cathedral boasts a stunning gilded interior, intricate marble tombstones of the 400 knights buried there and awe-inspiring frescoes by Mattia Preti. The highlight of our visit is the Oratory, home to Caravaggio’s masterpiece The Beheading of St. John the Baptist—the only painting he ever signed. A true gem of Valletta, this cathedral is a must-see for its grandeur, history, and artistic treasures.
The Grand Master’s Palace – A Legacy of Power and Prestige: Discover the Grand Master’s Palace, the historic heart of Valletta and the former seat of power of the Knights of St. John. This majestic palace, built in the 16th century, boasts richly decorated State Rooms, magnificent frescoes, and a stunning collection of period furniture and priceless Flemish tapestries*. We’ll also visit the Palace Armoury, home to an impressive collection of arms and armor once used by the knights in their battles. A visit here offers a glimpse into the grandeur, military might, and political influence of the knights who shaped Malta’s and the Mediterranean's history. *The tapestries are currently being restored and may not be available for viewing at the time of your visit
Republic Street – Valletta’s Lively Main Artery Strolling down Republic Street, Valletta’s bustling main thoroughfare, you’ll experience the perfect blend of history, culture, and modern life. This vibrant street stretches from City Gate to Fort St. Elmo, lined with grand Baroque architecture, historic landmarks, charming cafés, and boutique shops. As we walk, I’ll point out key sites, including the National Library, Auberge de Provence and the Renzo Piano designed Houses of Parliament while sharing fascinating stories about Valletta’s past and present. Whether it’s history, shopping, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, Republic Street is the heartbeat of the city.
