The tour will start at the Museum of Antioquia, a place that has one of the largest collections of Botero’s artwork in the world. You will be able to appreciate his unique artistic style internationally known for his subject’s proportional exaggerations and distortions. These exaggerations are the representation of his humor, irony, and criticism. Accompanied by a professional tour guide, you will walk through the Museum that holds 108 of his famous paintings.

The next stop will be at the Plaza de Botero, a fascinating open-air exhibition of bronze sculptures, designed as a renovation program for the area in 2004. They were placed there intentionally for people to interact with Botero’s art.

Finally, you’ll go to San Antonio Park where you will get the chance to see the Pájaro de Paz (the Bird of Peace) a sculpture blown up by the FARC in 1995, killing many innocent people. Botero then donated an exact undamaged bronze replica of the bird but insisted that the exploded statue remained at the plaza as a memorial statue with the names of the victims carved on its base. As soon as you finish at San Antonio Park, the guide can help you sort out transportation back to your hotel, to your next destination, or to a recommended place to take lunch nearby.
