Discover Amsterdam's WWII history on this 2-hour walking tour through the historic center and former Jewish Quarter.
Start outside the Anne Frank House on the Prinsengracht, hearing the story of the Frank family and their years in hiding. Walk to Dam Square to see the National Monument, the city's official WWII memorial.
Continue through Damstraat into the old center, past the 15th-century De Waag and across Jodenbreestraat, once the main street of the Jewish quarter, past the house where Rembrandt lived for nearly 20 years.
Arrive in the former Jewish Quarter at Jonas Daniël Meijerplein, home to Amsterdam's historic synagogues and the Dokwerker statue, commemorating the February 1941 Strike against the persecution of Jews. Pass the Holocaust Memorial (Namenmonument) and the Hollandsche Schouwburg, the former theatre used as a deportation point during the Nazi occupation.
The tour ends at the Auschwitz Memorial in Wertheimpark, a quiet space for reflection.
