    Day 1

    Arrival and Night Safari on the River

    Tambopata National Reserve

    9:30 AM: Departure from our office to the main port. Board a boat and navigate for approx. 40 minutes on the Madre de Dios River to your jungle lodge. Welcome with a fresh regional fruit drink and orientation about the lodge and upcoming activities. 1:00 PM: Lunch at the lodge. After settling into your room, enjoy a guided walk through the jungle to see millenary trees and possibly spot monkeys, birds, and insects in their natural habitat. 7:30 PM: Night boat excursion to spot caimans. Their eyes reflect light at night, making it an ideal time for viewing, along with other nocturnal creatures like capybaras, armadillos, and pacas. Dinner at the lodge.

    Sandoval Lake & Night Jungle Walk

    4:30 AM: Early breakfast. 5:00 AM: Visit Sandoval Lake inside the Tambopata National Reserve. Hike 3 km through the jungle, passing by mineral-rich palm clay licks where macaws gather at dawn. Observe diverse flora and fauna: aguaje palms, orchids, giant trees (like lupuna and shihuahuaco), monkeys, black caimans, giant otters, herons, toucans, hoatzins (prehistoric birds), and more. 12:30 PM: Lunch back at the lodge. 3:30 PM: Amazon sport fishing – try your luck catching piranhas, paco, gamitana, catfish, and more. You can prepare your catch with our chef for dinner. Later, experience a night jungle walk where you'll observe crickets, fireflies, frogs, toads, tarantulas, reptiles like snakes, and the camouflaged “plica plica” lizard. 8:00 PM: Dinner.

    Kayaking, Monkey Island & Zipline Adventure

    Lago Sandoval

    8:00 AM: Breakfast. 9:00 AM: Kayak adventure on the Madre de Dios River—get closer to nature and spot butterflies, aquatic turtles, and more. Visit Monkey Island, where rescued monkeys live freely. Interact with them using fruits, as they are accustomed to human presence. 1:00 PM: Lunch. 3:00 PM: Short boat ride (~20 minutes) observing turtles, butterflies, birds, and caimans. Then a 10-minute jungle hike to the canopy zip-line and hanging bridge for an adrenaline-filled experience above the trees. Optional activity: Nighttime bonfire to hear jungle tales and learn how to make fire in the dark.

    Tapir Trail and Return

    Puerto Maldonado

    7:30 AM: Breakfast. Jungle walk along the Tapir Trail to a swampy area full of aguaje palms—habitat of wild pigs and birds such as toucans and oropendolas. Look for animal tracks along the way. From November to April, this area floods and becomes a habitat for anacondas, offering a unique glimpse into the seasonal changes of the rainforest. 1:00 PM: Lunch at the lodge. Enjoy some free time to relax in hammocks or play pool while absorbing the final moments in the jungle. 4:30 PM: Return to the city.
