Departure: 3:00 AM We’ll pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and set off on a 2-hour journey by 4x4 vehicle to the banks of the majestic Tambopata River. From there, we’ll board a boat for an introduction to the tropical rainforest, with the chance to spot wildlife in its natural habitat, including amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and fascinating insects. At around 4:30 AM, we begin our navigation to the world-famous Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, the largest of its kind. This scenic boat ride lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes, offering incredible opportunities to see capybaras, tapirs, and, with a bit of luck, the most beautiful big cat of the Americas – the jaguar. Upon arrival, witness a spectacular natural show: hundreds of macaws and parrots of various species gathering to feed on the nutrient-rich clay along the riverbank. It’s a paradise for birdwatchers and photographers alike. We return to Puerto Maldonado around 12:00 PM.
