We’ll begin our adventure with a pickup at your hotel in the morning; our first stop will be the Orquídea chocolate factory, renowned for producing chocolates made from cacao from the Peruvian Amazon. During the visit, our guide will explain the cocoa transformation process, from the selection and processing of the beans to the production of various chocolate products, and we’ll also learn about aspects of their supply chain. At the end, we’ll have the opportunity to sample and purchase some of their products. Next, we’ll continue our tour to an artisanal cigar factory, where we’ll learn about a tradition that is part of the Amazon’s productive identity. During the visit, we’ll discover how tobacco leaves are selected and prepared, and we’ll explore the different stages of the artisanal process used to craft these renowned cigars.
Next, we’ll head to Selva Viva, a center dedicated to the care and protection of wildlife. There, we’ll learn about the work being done to provide care and protection to animals that have been victims of trafficking, abuse, or other situations that threaten their survival. After this enriching experience, we’ll board our vehicle to begin our return to the city of Tarapoto. Important: Due to ongoing construction work at the site where the Urkus animal rescue center is located, visits there are currently not available. Instead, we will visit Selva Viva, a similar center dedicated to the care and protection of wildlife.
