We offer pickups from hotels and hostels located in the historic center of Arequipa. Our main meeting point is at the Plaza de Armas. If your accommodation is located outside the city center, we'd be happy to recommend reliable taxis to help you get there without any problems. The exact pickup time will be confirmed the day before your trip, depending on your accommodation location.
We started very early, at 3:00 am, heading towards Patapampa, the highest point of the route. Here we'll make a brief stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the volcanoes and mountain ranges surrounding Arequipa and the Colca Valley.
Then we arrived at Chivay, capital of the Colca Valley. Here we will enjoy a comforting breakfast before continuing our journey, crossing beautiful landscapes, pre-Incan terraces, and observing typical flora and fauna of the area.
In this charming traditional village, we will witness a demonstration of the typical Colca dance, the Wititi, considered the "dance of love" and declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. You can also visit the beautiful colonial temple of the Most Holy Conception, rebuilt in the 17th century.
We will stop at the Huayra Punko (in Pinchollo) and Antahuilque viewpoints, where you can see ancient agricultural models and pre-Inca terraces.
One of the most anticipated moments: we arrive at the Cruz del Cóndor Lookout, where you'll have the opportunity to observe the majestic flight of the Andean condor, the largest non-marine bird in the world. From here you can also enjoy the impressive views of the Colca Canyon.
We visit the picturesque town of Maca, where you can try the famous Colca Sour, a traditional drink made with Andean products.
We'll head to the village of Achoma, where a local family will be waiting for us to share our firsthand experience. They'll share their daily life with us. Depending on the date, we'll be able to participate in the planting or harvesting of local produce. We'll also be able to dress up and dance the traditional Colca dance, the wititi, a heritage of humanity. We'll have lunch overlooking the terraces. (Optional lunch menu: S/ 35.00)
An ideal stop to relax: we'll enjoy the Chacapi hot springs, known for their medicinal properties. Optional entry: S/ 15.00
In this high Andean ecosystem, we will observe South American camelids such as llamas and alpacas, as well as birds such as Andean ducks, flamingos, and migratory species.
We conclude with a beautiful panoramic view of Patahuasi, from where you can see the Misti and Chachani volcanoes, as well as a unique rock forest with very interesting natural rock formations.
