    The Great Sphinx is one of the most mysterious objects in existence, it has the shape of a mythical creature called the sphinx that has the body of a lion and the head of a man who is believed to be king Khafre to represent power and wisdom. It is known as Abu Al-Hawl which is Arabic for The Father of terror. The sphinx is at the height of 73 m (240 ft) and 19 m (66 ft) and was carved out of single limestone rock.     The High Dam represents the modern might of the city of Aswan, the dam was constructed between 1960 & 1970 during the reign of president Gamal Adel-Nasser. The dam was designed as a cooperation project with the Moscow-based Hydro project Institute to have better control over Nile flooding, generate Hydroelectricity, and provide increased water storage for irrigation in its reservoir lake Nasser.

    Unfinished Obelisk

    The Unfinished Obelisk is a tale that was sadly left unfinished, it was ordered by Queen Hatshepsut (1508-1458 BC) to stand at the entrance of the Karnak temple. It was known as "Tekhenu" which means to pierce the sky" and shows how obelisks were created from scratch and the method of construction of Ancient Egypt, it reached the height of 42 m and weighed 1200 tons. Unfortunately, the obelisk was cracked during construction and remained at the same location even today.

    Colossi of Memnon

    Colossi of Memnon is different than most of the monuments in Upper Egypt, it has been known as the colossal guardians of Luxor. They are basically two massive blocks of quartzite sandstone standing at the height of 18 m (60ft) weighing 720 tons each and have the shape of Pharaoh Amenhotep III(1386-1350). The colossi were damaged due to a large earthquake in 27 BC but were rebuilt again in 199 AD.
