We'll cross the Ega Valley, which begins in Bolzano and runs east between the Catinaccio and Latemar mountains. This road was built in 1895 when the territory was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Part of the route runs through a canyon carved out by the Ega River. We'll stop at Lake Carezza, the most beautiful lake in the Dolomites: a 30-minute stay with a walk around the lake, if you like.

    Passo Pordoi

From here begins a long series of 27 hairpin bends that will lead us to the famous Pordoi Pass, at an altitude of 2,239 meters above sea level. It's an hour's stay if you decide to take the cable car to Sass Pordoi (2,950 meters; the cable car is open from late May to mid-October and from Christmas to Easter).

From the Sella Pass we can admire the Marmolada glacier (3,343 m) and the majestic Sassolungo (3,181 m), the most famous mountain in Val Gardena: 15 minute stop for photos.
