Haba Village in Yunnan, part of Sanba Naxi Township in Shangri-La City, lies at the foot of Haba Snow Mountain, at an altitude of 2,700 to 2,900 meters. It's the first stop and a tourist hub for those climbing the Haba Snow Mountain, and is also considered by some climbers to be the ideal starting point for their first 5,000-meter snow-capped mountain. This village, predominantly inhabited by the Naxi ethnic group, nestled between mountains and rivers and surrounded by lush forests, resembles a paradise. Here, you can experience the rich Naxi culture and the atmosphere of highland farming life. The village offers a full range of tourist services, including transportation, accommodation, meals, horses, and guides, making it an ideal base for mountaineering and hiking enthusiasts to rest and acclimate to the plateau environment.
Shangri-La's Dela Ranch (full name: Shangri-La Fanchen Dela Wild Luxury Camp) is a high-end camping destination that has attracted much attention in recent years. It is located at the foot of the northeast side of Haba Snow Mountain and provides you with a unique experience of immersing yourself in the magnificent scenery of the snow-capped mountains and the wild fun of the outdoors. At Dela Ranch, you can see the majestic panoramic view of Haba Snow Mountain right in front of you. The four seasons cover the mountains with either emerald green or white coats. Strolling through the pasture, primeval forests, alpine meadows and seasonally blooming flowers are interwoven into a picture scroll, and there are also tranquil alpine lakes like the Black Sea Lake dotted among them. After nightfall, you can immerse yourself under the pure starry sky and experience the unique accommodation where wild luxury tents blend with nature.
Orchid Flat Campsite is nestled on the terraced slopes east of the Haba Snow Mountain, a high alpine pasture directly opposite the peaks. Every spring and summer, the area transforms into a breathtaking sea of flowers, with the alpine rhododendrons blooming in May and June in particular. The vibrant scene is complemented by the distant snow-capped peaks and nearby pristine forest, adding a touch of splendor. The campsite offers comfortable and luxurious tents. Popular experiences include swings facing the snow-capped mountains and nighttime stargazing. As a hub for classic hiking routes in the Haba Snow Mountain area, this campsite serves as a stopover en route to the mysterious Black Sea Lake and the higher elevations of the Dela Pasture, providing hikers with an ideal platform for rest and viewing.
Itinerary: Take a bus from Lijiang to Haba Village at 8:30 AM and arrive at 11:30 AM. After a simple lunch, take a bus to Dela Ranch. The team leader will warm you up and start today's hike through the forest and pasture. It is expected to arrive at Lanhuaping Camp at 5:00 PM. After the team leader leads you to stretch, you can rest for a while before enjoying dinner. After the camp, you can do whatever you want.
In Shangri-La's Rhododendron Valley, a sea of alpine rhododendrons stretches for kilometers, undulating along the mountainside. A variety of rhododendron varieties, ranging from pink-purple at lower altitudes to pure white at higher elevations, form a magnificent three-dimensional flower gallery. Peak blooms occur from May to June each year, blanketing the valley in varying shades of red, pink, and white. The sea of flowers is dotted with dense fir forests and exposed rocky outcrops. The snow-capped peaks of Haba Snow Mountain in the distance complement the nearby sea of blooming flowers. Occasionally, streams meander through the sea of flowers. When the morning mist lingers, the scenery becomes even more dreamy and picturesque.
Black Sea Lake, a high-altitude glacial lake at an altitude of 4,200 meters, reflects the conical peaks of the Haba Snow Mountain in its emerald green waters. Dense fir forests surround the lake, and in midsummer, a sea of rhododendrons blooms. Millennia-old driftwood floats on the water, creating a dramatic backdrop against the sheer cliffs on the opposite bank. At dawn and dusk, enjoy the breathtaking sight of the sun shining on the golden peaks, alternating with the starry sky reflected on the lake's surface.
We will have breakfast at the Lanhuaping campsite at 8:00 AM. We will depart from the campsite at 8:30 AM and climb through the forest, wetland, and Rhododendron Valley to the Black Sea Lake Observation Deck. We will arrive at 1:00 PM. After taking photos and checking in, we can descend to the lake (the fastest time is 1 hour). We will then return to Lanhuaping to rest, pack our luggage, and start our descent. We will arrive back at the hotel at around 6:00 PM.

Tina's Shangri-La Zhongxia International Youth Hostel (Tina's) is located in the Benbenwan group of Yongsheng Village in Tiger Leaping Gorge Township, centrally located along the Tiger Leaping Gorge hiking route. Opened in 1998, it's renowned for its services to backpackers, offering shuttle service between Lijiang and Shangri-La. It also features a restaurant with panoramic views, and some rooms offer stunning views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The hostel also arranges for professional hiking guides and offers special dining options, including beef hot pot and chicken noodle soup, making it an ideal stopover and rest stop for Tiger Leaping Gorge hikers.
After breakfast at Haba Village at 8:00, we set out from the inn to Tiger Leaping Gorge at 8:30. It takes 1 hour to drive to the Tea Horse Inn to start today's hike. The Tea Horse Inn is 5 kilometers away from the Midway Inn, which takes about 1.5 hours to hike. The Midway Inn is 5 kilometers away from Tina's, which takes about 1.5 hours to hike. Team members can take photos and check in at the floor-to-ceiling windows of the cliff hotel, and then return to Lijiang.
