The tour departs from the Arctic Adventures Booking Hut, located on the parking lot of Skaftafell National Park. Skaftafell National Park is located just off of the main ring road, on road #998. Skaftafell is approximately 4.5-5 hours east of Reykjavik and 1.5 hours west of Höfn.

What to expect

This longer glacier hike takes you to Falljökull, one of the outlets of the mighty Vatnajökull - Europe's largest glacier. We hike through a path of blue-ice and dramatic fromations, surrounded by the ever-changing landscape carved by the glacier. Our friendly and knowledgeable guides are with you every step of the way as we discover Falljökulls icy magic.

This tour meets at our Skaftafell booking center. Skaftafell is located 327km (203 miles) from Reykjavík. The nearest towns to Skaftafell are Kirkjubæjarklaustur, 69km to the west and Höfn, 130km to the east. From here, we board a 4x4 bus that takes us to the foot of the glacier.

  • Minimum age is 14 years old and minimum shoe size is 35 EU
