Join me on a walking tour through Grünerløkka. We will discover the area’s unique history, lush nature, creative scene, and the hippest cafés, bars and restaurants.

As an independent guide, I have created my own tours, driven by my passion for Oslo’s rich culture and history. After years of designing itineraries/scripts for tour companies, I have created my own tours to offer a more personal, authentic experience. Unlike the generic tours provided by companies that subcontract local guides, my tours are thoughtfully crafted and full of personal insights and stories.
I just launched on Viator/Tripadvisor, so reviews are few, but I am highest rated on other booking platforms (google me).

Meeting and pickup
Our meeting point is just to the right of the main entrance of Kulturkirken Jakob (Jakob Cultural Church), which is located on the street Hausmanns gate.

Starting at Kulturkirken Jakob we will first move into the Grünerløkka district. You have probably heard that it is known for bars, restaurants, and independent shops, but I will also tell you about the area's really interesting history.

Here we will discover a very photogenic creative arts and music hub right by the river.

Along delightful paths, we will follow the river upstream to Vulkan, a model for green urban living, with cutting edge venues and Oslo’s best food hall.

4Damstredet
We will then make our way along cobbled Damstredet with its charming, small, wooden houses from the early 19th century.

5Our Saviour's Memorial Cemetery
At the top of the hill we will visit the Cemetery of Our Saviour, a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city, where the final resting places of Edvard Munch and Henrik Ibsen can be found.

Moving along picturesque Telthusbakken, we will head back down towards the river.

We will then carry on up along the Akerselva river, and see how the river’s factories have been converted into design centres and art academies.

We will stroll through the mist of urban waterfalls while we learn about the impact the Industrial Revolution had on Oslo, and the areas surrounding the river in particular.

If you like we will stop for tea, coffee or a delicious waffle (at your own cost) at Hønse-Lovisas house, a cute spot right on top of one of the waterfalls.

We will then head back into the hustle and bustle of Grünerløkka. Weaving our way through numerous lesser known streets packed with history, we will pass award winning cafes, buzzing hangout spots, and I can point out my favourite cocktail bars and restaurants. Depending on your wishes, the tour will either finish at one of the tram stops in Grünerløkka or at Ankerbrua, close to where we started.
