Luofu Hot Springs Located in Fuxing District, Taoyuan, Luofu is a newly developed bicarbonate hot spring area with clear, odorless waters known for their skin-soothing benefits. The site also features a free public foot bath—perfect for relaxing and easing away the fatigue of a long journey.
Lala Mountain Forest Recreation Area Famous for its ancient red cypress and Taiwan cypress trees, Lala Mountain is home to the impressive “Sacred Tree Trail.” At an elevation of 1,500–2,130 meters, the park enjoys cool weather and crisp mountain air, making it an ideal destination for forest therapy. Trails here are well-designed and mostly gentle, perfect for a leisurely walk. Recommended spots include the Sacred Tree Trail, scenic viewpoints, and the sweet gum forest.
Shangbaling Shopping Street Browse indigenous handicrafts, fresh high-mountain produce, and local souvenirs in this lively shopping area. Shangbaling Visitor Center Learn about the natural resources of Lala Mountain and the Northern Cross-Island Highway through informative exhibits. It’s also a great place to gain insights into Atayal culture and the region’s unique ecology.
County Boundary Marker Located at over 1,500 meters above sea level, this marker is a key landmark along the Northern Cross-Island Highway. From here, you can admire the magnificent mountain scenery of two counties at once—making it a perfect spot for photos and check-ins.
Sanguang Waterfall A small yet scenic waterfall along the Northern Cross-Island Highway, known for its clear waters and tranquil surroundings. Ecological Pond Featuring wooden boardwalks and a family-friendly riverside area, this spot lets you enjoy the refreshing mountain stream. In summer, dip your feet in the cool water for a relaxing escape from the heat.
Mingchi Forest Recreation Area Situated at an altitude of about 1,150 meters, Mingchi is a serene forest paradise centered around a tranquil alpine lake. The park features a scenic lakeside trail, a “forest classroom,” and birdwatching pavilions. Each season offers a different charm, with misty days creating the most magical, dreamlike scenery.
Taipingshan Villa Trails Starting from Taipingshan Villa, enjoy an easy hike to Cuifeng Scenic Area or the cypress primeval forest trails. With diverse high-altitude forest landscapes and refreshing mountain air, this is one of Taiwan’s most iconic forest therapy routes. 自費選項:蹦蹦車之旅(來回約40分鐘,整點與半點發車) 蹦蹦車為早期運材小火車,現在改為觀光用途,自太平山莊行駛至茂興站,全程約20分鐘,可體驗復古森林鐵道魅力。抵達後可短暫探索茂興林道步道,再返回。
Jianqing Historic Trail Once a railway line for Taipingshan’s logging industry, this trail still preserves old tracks and wooden bridges. Stretching about 900 meters, it is an easy and popular hike with wide-open views. On clear days, you can see the Central Mountain Range and Taipingshan Villa from the trail.
Jiuzhize Hot Spring Famous for its natural sodium bicarbonate spring, Jiuzhize offers silky-smooth, clear, and odorless waters—perfect for a relaxing soak. The area features public foot baths and private bathhouses (additional cost), as well as a free “egg boiling pool,” where visitors can enjoy the fun of cooking eggs in hot spring water.
Yulan Tea Plantation Rest Area Located on the border of Sanxing and Datong townships in Yilan, this area is famous for producing Yulan tea and serves as a perfect scenic stop along the way. On clear days, you can enjoy sweeping views of the Lanyang Plain—an ideal spot for photos and a short break.
