    Fortaleza de Kuelap

    We pick you up from your hotel in Chachapoyas and drive to Nuevo Tingo, where we board the modern cable car for a scenic 20-minute ride up the mountain. During the ascent, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the impressive 20-meter-tall stone walls and dramatic cliffs that surround the ancient fortress. After a gentle 20-minute uphill walk, we arrive at Kuelap and explore its narrow passageways, stone circular structures, and main highlights such as the Torreón, Tintero, and El Castillo. As we walk through the archaeological complex, you’ll discover the history and engineering of the Chachapoya civilization, one of the most remarkable pre-Inca cultures. Following the guided visit, we stop at a local restaurant for a traditional lunch. We then take the cable car back to Nuevo Tingo and return to Chachapoyas. You’ll arrive at your hotel approximately 9 hours after pickup.
