Calligraphy Experience Flow
Feel the brush and paper
First, you’ll enjoy feeling the texture of the brush and paper while practicing basic brush strokes.
Choose your favorite kanji
Next, choose your favorite Japanese character — for example, “Love,” “Dream,” “Heart,” or “Fuji.”
Our staff will provide individual support and guidance.
Create your own masterpiece
Finally, write and complete your own original calligraphy artwork — a one-of-a-kind piece in the world, created by you.
️ Your finished artwork can be taken home as a special souvenir of your time in Japan.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
Exit Kawaguchiko Station and walk five minutes to the Lawson convenience store. Cross the pedestrian crossing in front of Lawson and walk towards Funatsu Elementary School. Turn left at the path near the school swings. Follow the path and look for our signboard ahead
What to expect
Enjoy a peaceful Japanese calligraphy experience at the foot of Mt. Fuji, surroundedby the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of Lake Kawaguchi.
You can choose between two wonderful styles: Traditional Shodo using classic black ink, or Colorful Art Calligraphy using a vibrant spectrum of colors.
Using traditional brushes, you’ll learn basic strokes and express your favorite word, name, or creative ideas with heart and creativity.
At the end of the session, create your own original artwork on your choice of material:
Shikishi (calligraphy board) Available for both Traditional and Colorful styles!
Uchiwa / Sensu (Japanese fan) Traditional Shodo (Black Ink) only
Makimono (scroll) Traditional Shodo (Black Ink) only
You can take your finished piece home as a special souvenir of your trip to Japan.
