The Activity: A mostly flat, 3km – 5.2km hike along the shoreline loop of one of British Columbia's most famous lakes. Our goal is to hit the day's furthest point first, experiencing the vivid colours of the "Jewel of Yoho" and its breadth of geological features through active discovery before the mid-day rush.
A brief stop along Emerald Lake Road to observe the Kicking Horse River as it carves its way through solid rock.
The Activity: A visit to the most iconic basin in the range. We’ll move along the shoreline to reach the quieter vantage points of the lake and surrounding peaks, offering a better perspective of the Victoria Glacier and castle-like Fairmont Chateau. The in-and-out lakeshore trail is up to 4.6km in length, with nominal elevation gain. On our way out to Marble Canyon we have an optional brief pitstop at Lake Louise Village.
The Activity: A weaving, 1.8km in-and-out trail featuring the stunning blues of Tokumm Creek, waterfalls, and several canyon-straddling footbridges from which you can peer straight through the limestone edges to the creek below. One of Kootenay National Park's best spots.
Crossing the Continental Divide is a unique experience because you are standing on the "spine" of North America, where the geography dictates that a single drop of water will either flow west toward the Pacific or east toward the Atlantic.
The Activity: We transition to the Bow Valley Parkway for part of the leg back toward Banff. A quieter and more relaxed alternative to the Trans-Canada Highway, this route offers a different perspective of the valley and more frequent wildlife sightings. Note: certain sections are subject to seasonal closures for wildlife and to create a vehicle free experience for cyclists; during these times, the open sections of the parkway might not fit with the rest of our itinerary.
