What to expect

Step into the colourful world of Peking Opera, one of China's most iconic performing arts, where elaborate costumes, symbolic face painting, and striking mask designs bring legendary characters to life. Your instructor will introduce the meanings behind traditional Peking Opera colours and patterns, explaining how they represent different personalities, virtues, and roles.

You'll then paint your own Peking Opera mask, learning how to apply colours, balance patterns, and create a distinctive symbolic design. No artistic experience is needed, and you'll receive step-by-step guidance throughout the workshop. Your finished mask is yours to take home as a unique handmade souvenir.

With the extended workshop option, you'll have the opportunity to dress up in authentic Peking Opera-inspired costume as either Sun Wukong (the Monkey King) or Caishen (the God of Wealth). For those who wish, simple face painting can also be added to complement the costume. A member of the team will be happy to help take photos, giving you memorable keepsakes of your transformation into one of China's most beloved cultural characters.
