On this day trip, you’ll explore the heart of Czech beer culture, starting in Žatec, home of the world-famous Saaz hops. You’ll visit hop fields, learn how hops are grown and harvested, and understand why Czech hops are so highly valued. A traditional lunch with beer tasting is included, and you’ll also enjoy beer along the way as part of the experience.
The journey continues to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery, where the first Pilsner was created in 1842. During a guided tour, you’ll explore the historic cellars and taste unfiltered beer straight from a wooden barrel. You’ll also learn about traditional Czech pouring styles — hladinka, šnyt, and mlíko — all accompanied by your local guide throughout the day.
Hotel pickup is included. Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby or directly in front of the hotel at the agreed time. The guide will be wearing clothing with the CzechSpiration logo (Czech and Slovak flag in the shape of a map) and will hold a visible sign with your name for easy identification.
In Hop Museum I’ll show you how the famous Czech Saaz hops are grown and why they’re so important for our beer culture. We’ll walk through the exhibits together, and I’ll explain the history, the harvesting process, and what makes Žatec hops some of the finest in the world.
Here we’ll take a break and enjoy a traditional Czech lunch together, of course with a great local beer.
I’ll hand you over to the official brewery guide, who will take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of the place where the world’s first Pilsner was born. You’ll explore the historic cellars and finish with a tasting of unfiltered Pilsner Urquell straight from a traditional wooden barrel – a truly unique experience.
