The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall was first built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. It was a shrine jointly funded by the Chen clan from 72 counties in Guangdong. Its primary function was ancestor worship, and its secondary function was to provide temporary accommodation for Chen clan members traveling to Guangzhou to take the imperial examinations, as well as for subsequent appointments, lawsuits, and other official business. Inside the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, one can see exquisite wood carvings, brick carvings, iron carvings, and ceramic and painted sculptures on the roof, as well as bronze sculptures and iron pillars. The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall is now known as the Guangdong Folk Art Museum.
In Yongqingfang, Guangzhou, you'll find a vibrant blend of traditional Cantonese culture and modern urban life. The ancestral hall brings together the architectural essence of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, and is especially renowned for its exquisite brick carvings, wood carvings, stone carvings, and plasterwork.
The Pearl River Night Cruise is one of Guangzhou's most representative tourist experiences.
