The Monastery of St. Paul, also known as St. Paul’s Monastery, is a historic Coptic Christian site located in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, not far from Hurghada. It was founded in the 4th century and is dedicated to St. Paul the Anchorite, one of the earliest Christian hermits who chose a life of solitude and prayer in the desert. The monastery is considered one of the oldest and most significant in Christian monastic history. Set in a remote desert valley, the monastery is surrounded by rugged mountains, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. Its architecture reflects ancient Coptic monastic design, with stone walls, small chapels, a church, and simple monks’ cells. Inside, visitors can see religious icons, manuscripts, and relics that have been preserved over centuries.
