When visiting the Great Sphinx of Giza, you will see one of the most famous statues in the world. The Great Sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a human, which symbolizes strength and wisdom. This incredible monument was carved from a single piece of limestone more than 4,500 years ago during the time of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs. Standing in front of the Sphinx, you can clearly notice the powerful lion body stretching along the ground and the calm human face looking toward the horizon.
