Your wonderful day begins with a private pickup in Shanghai, followed by a guided tour to Suzhou by high-speed train. To ensure a pleasant experience, we have arranged a recommended itinerary for you. However, since this tour is completely up to you, you are welcome to discuss with your guide a customized itinerary during the train ride.
According to the recommended itinerary, your first stop is Humble Administrator's Garden, a World Cultural Heritage Site in Suzhou and the foremost among China's four great classical gardens, widely regarded as the pinnacle of Jiangnan gardens. The garden's pavilions, terraces, and towers are built by the water's edge. As you stroll through it, every step reveals a new scene, with white walls, dark-tiled roofs, and exquisitely arranged rockeries forming a poetic landscape. Spend an hour and a half wandering leisurely here, and through every grass and bush, you can understand the most authentic essence of exquisite life in Eastern China.
Next, we will head to Canglang Pavilion. Built in the Northern Song Dynasty, Canglang Pavilion is the oldest existing classical garden in Suzhou. Upon entering the garden, you can walk slowly along the corridor, looking through latticed windows with different patterns to view the scenery, as if watching a series of flowing pictures. Inside the pavilion, you can sit for a while, enjoy the breeze, and look up to read the famous couplet inscribed on the column. Just wander under ancient trees or along stone paths, and experience the quiet serenity of this classical garden.
Then, we will visit Dinghui Temple. Dinghui Temple is an ancient monastery that provides incense offerings and prayers for blessings. You can pay respect to the Buddha, make sincere wishes in the Mahavira Hall, or offer lamps and tie prayer ribbons in front of the hall. Inside the temple, ginkgo trees soar into the sky and stone inscriptions are serene and tranquil. After paying respects, you can sit quietly in the courtyard for a while, enjoying a comforting atmosphere.
Finally, we will head to Shantang Street, renowned as Suzhou's First Famous Street, where you can appreciate the Water Town from a distinctive perspective. Ride a hand-rowed boat gliding slowly along the river, and admire up close the waterside residences with white walls and dark-tiled roofs, as well as the thousand-year-old ancient bridges. In this peaceful moment, enjoy the tranquil charm of Jiangnan far away from the bustle of the city. Besides our recommended itinerary, you can also request to explore other attractions, such as Hanshan Temple, Lingering Garden, Pingjiang Road etc. After all, the purpose of a customized tour is to make the itinerary fully serve your interests and time.
