What to expect

You'll meet your captain and host at the pier in Coconut Grove. They'll welcome you with drinks, hand out sunscreen and towels, and answer any questions as you board the MasterCraft X26, a 26.5-foot wakesurf boat, the largest of its kind in Miami.

Once everyone's aboard, we'll cruise about 15 minutes out onto Biscayne Bay. Your host walks you through the boat and covers basic water safety along the way, so you know what to expect once the wakesurfing starts.

At the wakesurf spot, you'll take turns riding behind the boat with one-on-one coaching from your captain and host. Most first-timers who are comfortable with the water and know how to swim are up and riding their first wave within just a few tries. If it's your first time, you'll get a commemorative wristband to mark it.

When everyone's had their turns, you'll cruise back toward the marina, about 20 minutes, with snacks and drinks on deck and the Miami skyline behind you. Group size is capped at 6 guests, so it stays a small group the whole time, and time on the water can be maximized.

Total time from meeting to drop-off is about 3.5 hours.
