Spend two nights in Iceland's capital and two nights in South Iceland, an ideal location for the search for the Northern Lights.

Pickup details:

Upon arrival look for the Reykjavik Excursions Flybus shuttles located just outside the airport terminal. A Flybus voucher will be provided upon booking. If you need assistance, contact the Reykjavik Excursions/Flybus representative at their sales counter in the arrival hall. The transfer takes about 45 minutes to the BSI bus station in Reykjavík. There you might either continue with the same bus or be transferred to a smaller coach to your accommodation in Reykjavík according to instructions of the driver. Your tour guide will meet you at Hotel Klettur & Hotel Cabin before the 09 AM departure.

    Discover the wonders of the Reykjanes peninsula with old lava flows, the grand barrenness, rough shore-side, spectacular breaking surf, hot spring areas, small fishing villages and abundant bird life. We stop near a tall lighthouse close to sea stacks. The peninsula steams with volcanic features - hot springs, sulfates and mud pools and a couple of small shield volcanoes and some fissures through the lava fields. You get the unique chance to cross a small bridge between two continents, the American and Eurasian continental plates.

    Solheimajokull Glacier

    In the afternoon you can go on a optional glacier walk. On this fun, safe and easy to moderate glacier walk you get to explore the wonderland of ice sculptures, water cauldrons, ridges and deep crevasses on the breath-taking Sólheimajökull glacier. While enjoying all the features of the glacier and its spectacular surroundings, you will learn more about the behavior of glaciers and their impact on nature. No technical requirements are needed for the tour as an experienced glacier guide will teach you how to use basic glacier equipment, such as crampons and an ice axe which are provided for glacier walk tours. Duration of this activity is approximately 3 hours in total, about 90 minutes on the ice and about 30-40 min walk (one-way) from the car park to the glacier edge itself. Minimum age for the glacier hike is 10 years. You need to bring warm clothing, rain gear and hiking boots.

    Geysir

    There is a variety of hot springs and bubbling pools. The original geyser is now dormant but has been replaced by Strokkur, "the Churn", which erupts at 5-10-minute intervals.

    The mighty waterfall of Gullfoss - the Golden falls - perhaps the most beautiful in the country. The glacial river of Hvítá (white river) tumbles 32 meters (105 ft.) in a double cascade. On a sunny day a rainbow is very likely in the massive spray.
