Perched hundreds of meters above Oslo and its fjord, the wilderness of Oslo is an amazing get-away from the city, for those in search of peace and quiet. You will hike from one amazing view point to another, stopping along the way at some amazing architecture (the Holmenkollen ski jump and the national historic landmark farm of Frognerseteren). There will be time to pick berries, picnic on a bare summit and maybe see a moose if lucky! The tour then ends at a forest lake perfect for a swim. This tour is for participants with a good fitness level. Trail shoes or hiking boots are recommended.
Standard starting point is the National Theatre metro (T-bane) station. But we can meet travelers anywhere in the city centre.
At the fountain between the National Theater and the entrance to the metro (T-bane)
One of Oslo's most traditional buildings, showing typical Norwegian rural architecture within the city limits. It is also possible to buy food and drink here for the picnic later in the day.
One of the best views over the city, the fjord and the surrounding forest. This viewpoint is the best spot for a picnic during the tour.
One of Oslo's best known lakes among the 300+ lakes within the city limit. Great option for swimming on warm summer days.
Almost the entirety of this tour takes place in Oslo's northern forest "nordmarka". This area is one of the largest preserved urban forests in the entire world and has hundreds of lakes, millions of berries, moose and so much more.
