Our trip will start in your hotel, where our guide and the driver will pick you up and drive you for over an hour to Zipaquira, the town that holds the only underground catholic temple in the world: the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira. Here, you will be guided through the salty halls of the mine, filled with catholic symbolism, and you will learn their curious history.
You will jump to the Sisga Dam and Puente de Boyacá, where you will have the chance to relax over the views of the Dam and its surrounding mountains. After a short stop there, you will be headed to Villa de Leyva, one of the heritage small towns of Colombia. Once here, you will be able to rest and prepare again for day two.
You will be headed to Villa de Leyva, one of the heritage small towns of Colombia. Once here, you will be able to rest and prepare again for day two.
On the second day you will explore Villa de Leyva, which has some of the most well-preserved colonial architecture in the country, making it rich in history, archeology, and surrounded by striking natural beauty. Along the day, you will be visiting the Paleontological Museum, as the valley where Villa de Leyva is located is rich in fossils from the Cretaceous era.
Then, we will hike deeper into the hills to Pozos Azules. These mineral-rich pools reflect a blue-green sky on a clear day: a wonderful contrast to the surrounding semi-desert and pine-forests.
Finally, the last town you will be visiting is Raquira, a cozy small place known for its pottery handcrafts. Then, you will be taking your way back to your hotel.
