Lobby of the Mirador del Monasterio Hotel
We will finish the tour above the balconies of the Plaza de Armas de Arequipa enjoying a Pisco Sour
We begin our visit in the traditional neighborhood of SAN LÁZARO, built on an old pre-Hispanic Yarabaya village; It has small streets, squares, passages and various houses. Stresses the church of San Lázaro, a small bridge made of ashlar and Campo Redondo
This place has the purpose of offering the experience of the alpaca from different perspectives. We will learn more about ancestral techniques, fiber classification, local machinery and finally a trip back in time to learn more about the textiles of the Pre-Inca cultures.
Cozy garden to try a more refreshing version of Pisco. here we will present a surprise cocktail, very light and pleasant to liven up the cultural afternoon
At this stage of the experience we will enter the Tambo, the slaughterhouse or the Barrio del Solar, right next to the Chili River. It was built with ashlar and used for animal sacrifice. The main building comprised three levels that take advantage of the gap between the street and the riverbank
It is a little jewel for the eyes. It was a Temple built by the Jesuit order for religious and housing purposes. It represents the religious architecture of the 17th century (1660). Inside you can see carved wooden altarpieces covered with gold leaf. The current structure of the temple is from 1650. It has approximately 66 canvases from the Cusqueña School
Dominated by its Cathedral, built entirely in ashlar, it consists of 70 columns, 3 covers and 2 large side arches. It has real jewels in images, sculptures and oils of renowned artists. Around us we can observe 3 arched chains guarding the main church, but in the middle of two of them we will continue our journey until we reach the COMPANY CHURCH, one of the most prominent examples of the so-called mestizo architecture.
Finally we will go to one of the balconies of the Plaza de Armas to end our day perfectly with an exquisite SOUR PISCO in front of a beautiful sunset with the 3 volcanoes in the background. (Optional change for another drink for those who do not drink alcohol)
