5The British Consulate At Takao
Former British Consulate at Takao is a historic landmark located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Built in 1865, it is the oldest Western-style consulate building in Taiwan. Overlooking Kaohsiung Harbor from a hillside, the consulate was used by the British government during the Qing Dynasty for trade and diplomatic purposes. Today, the beautifully restored building serves as a museum and cultural site, offering exhibits about Taiwan’s colonial history, British-Taiwan relations, and maritime trade. Visitors can also enjoy stunning panoramic views of the harbor and sunset from the consulate's garden and terrace. ◆Please note that as the Former British Consulate at Takao is closed on Wednesdays, it will not be included in the itinerary for that day.
