The excursion begins with the pick from the hotel. You take the Provincial Road N°11 that connects you to the National Park area, after going through about 75 km. Along the road, you can see different environments: from the Patagonian Steppe to the Magellanic forest, discovering several types of Flora and fauna of the region. On the road, you make two stops: one of them to admire the Argentinean lake, and the other one on the “Curva de los Suspiros” or “Breathtaking Panoramic view”, where you have the first view of the Moreno Glacier. Once in the balconies area, you will have around two hours to walk along them in order to have several views of the Glacier. If you are lucky, you will see pieces of ice falling down and generating an enormous breaking noise. Finishing the visit to the pasarelles, the guide will offer you navigation in front of the south ice wall of the glacier, which is optional and for sure recommended, for being the only chance you can see the Moreno Glacier from the water level, close to the 60 m ice wall. It lasts about 50 minutes, and it is definitely a must-see. Once close to the wall, the ship stops in order for you to take great pictures from there. It operates all year long. About 7 hours of excursion Low difficulty Outfit: comfortable shoes and just in case, waterproof clothes, sunglasses and sunscreen/sunblock. Entrance ticket to the National Park is included.

The idea is to provide those who do not have a lot of time, with an option to visit El Chaltén, the youngest town in Argentina, National Capital of Trekking. It will allow us to admire the Fitz Roy Mount (3405mts); Torre Mount (3102 mts) and the natural beauties of its surroundings. In a comfortable minibus we will begin with the pick up at hotels, at 08:00 hours, to start our trip, accompanied by a bilingual guide. Along the coast of Argentinean Lake, we will continue until the crossing with the route 40 that we will take towards the north. Approximately half way we will arrive at the La Leona Inn, an old construction dating from 1894, on the river of the same name, where we will learn about its history. Continuing towards the north, and after several stops at panoramic points, we will surely meet with herds of guanacos and hares. We will go to “Chorrillo del Salto”, which is 4 km away from El Chaltén, where we will enjoy the enchanting landscape and a natural waterfall of 20 meters high in the middle of the mountain range. If preferred, passengers may choose to walk the self-guided trails to the Mirador de los Cóndores or Las Águilas. (Condors Viewpoint or Eagles Viewpoint) At around 17:30 hs we will return to El Calafate, estimating our arrival at 20:00 hs, after an enriching experience. Lunch will be held at a restaurant in El Chaltén, with non-alcoholic beverage included.
