  • 9
    Thórsmörk

We are going to our favorite place, Þórsmörk Mountain Reserve, in our modified 4×4 Super Jeeps. To access this area you need to cross glacial rivers, so it’s not for the normal rental car. Þórsmörk (Thorsmork) means the valley of Thor (the Norse god). We, Icelanders, sometimes say it is our ‘happy place‘. It’s got everything: volcanic landscapes, not one but three glaciers, fun glacier river crossings, and rich history (from folk, elves and trolls and all the way to Game of Thrones). The number of interesting places is abundant, both in Þórsmörk and on our way there. By visiting Þórsmörk, you get to explore landscapes that capture the essence of Iceland’s rugged interior. Interestingly, most travelers stick to the Ring Road along the coast and miss out on these breathtaking scenes that hold a special place in the hearts of Icelanders.

Your professional Midgard guide will provide insights into the glacier’s formation, the impact of volcanic activity, and the effects of climate change. No prior experience is necessary; our guide will conduct a safety briefing to ensure everyone’s well-being.
